To keep your Xiaomi Robot Vacuum performing at its peak, regular maintenance is key. Follow this guide to ensure your floors stay sparkling clean and your device lasts for years.
1. The Side Brush: Your First Line of Defense
The side brush is crucial for sweeping debris from corners into the suction path. Over time, hair and dust can wrap around the base, causing strain on the motor.
- Maintenance: Check weekly for tangled hair.
- Replacement: Replace every 3–6 months. We stock the Xiaomi Anti-tangle Side Brush which is specifically designed for the H40, S40, and 5 Pro series to minimize jams.
2. Main Brush & Filter Care
The main rolling brush does the heavy lifting. If it’s clogged, your vacuum’s suction efficiency drops significantly.
- Main Brush: Remove the brush cover and use a cleaning tool to cut away any wrapped hair or threads.
- HEPA Filter: Tap the filter over a bin to remove fine dust. Pro Tip: Never wash a non-washable filter with water, as it can block the microscopic pores permanently.
3. Sensor Cleaning for Smarter Navigation
If your vacuum is bumping into furniture or acting “confused,” dirty sensors are likely the culprit.
- What to do: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to wipe the cliff sensors (underneath) and the LDS laser sensor (the “tower” on top).
- Avoid: Using wet wipes or chemicals, which can leave streaks and interfere with the laser.
4. Charging Contacts
Dust buildup on the charging plates can prevent your vacuum from docking or charging correctly.
- Maintenance: Wipe the metal contacts on both the vacuum and the charging dock once a month to ensure a seamless connection.
